A unique artwork by Giles Newman, the ‘Breath for Breath’ Poppy spoon was inspired by the poetry of Christina Rossetti, the paintings of Georgia O’Keeffe, the design forms of Alphonse Mucha and the colour of the individual piece of wood from which it is carved. Carved entirely by hand from a piece of reclaimed Mohogany wood using only an axe and two knives, this piece represents some of Giles’ finest work to date with his signature style; bringing together naturalistic, figurative forms with elegant, organic design.
Declared by Time Inc., on their website FoodandWine.com, as “The World’s Most Beautiful Spoons”, Giles creates just a handful of pieces each year. Characterised by their intricate details, naturalistic flow and depth, Giles’ spoon carvings have become highly sought after with collectors and art lovers around the world.
